SLC gears towards Outcomes-Based Education

In compliance to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order 46 series of 2012 or the "Policy Standard to Enhance Quality Assurance in Philippine Higher Education through an Outcomes-Based and Typology- Based QA," which became the birth child of CHED's Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) initiatives and which encompasses what is now known as the Outcomes-Based Education system that is being applied nationwide, Saint Louis College started to prepare to embrace the shift from input-based to output-based education through the creation of its College Outcomes-Based Education Committee (COBEC).
The COBEC is composed of selected members of the academic community who will be in-charge of facilitating the processes of transforming the academic operations into OBE-compliant practices. Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, the College President, heads the committee. Working closely with the President in monitoring the shift are Dr. Lea L. de Guzman, VP for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Juner Windel M. Valdez, IDQA Officer. The various academic deans that include Dr. Aurora R. Carbonell (CASTEIT), Engr. Rolly L Carreon (CEA), Mrs. Helen R. Tugade (CCSA), Dean Dr Rosario Garcia (Graduate School), and Atty. Edwin C. Siapco (CCJLE) serve as the area heads in their respective departments. In addition, Mrs. Marlyn Torcedo, Natural Science Department Head, was appointed as the chairperson for the General Education Program.
On September 2 – 5, 2014, the COBEC and some College faculty members will undergo OBE Training Workshop to be held at San Luis del Mar, Baccuit, Bauang, La Union. The said training will be facilitated by the University Outcomes-Based Education Committee of Saint Louis University, Baguio City.
Aquino, Flores pass Licensure Examination for Guidance and Counseling

Mr. Rodolfo C. Aquino Jr., MAGC and Ms. Catherine Jennifer C. Flores, MAGC, two of the College Guidance Counselors, joined the pool of 288 newly registered guidance counselors (RGC) after passing the recently concluded Licensure Examination for Guidance and Counseling held at Manuel L. Quezon University, August 5 – 6, 2014.
The two day board examination gauged the guidance counselors' knowledge in six different subjects, specifically, group process, counseling techniques, foundations of guidance, psychological testing, career development, and organization, administration and supervision of guidance.
SLC produces three new Geodetic Engineers
Saint Louis College produced three new Geodetic Engineers in the August 2014 Geodetic Engineer Licensure Examination given by the Board of Geodetic Engineering in Manila.
Engr. Sharlaine Joyce A. Arizala, Engr, Harold A. Joseph, and Engr. Raisa Dey G. Rosales, all members of the last batch of BSGE graduates were among the 179 passers out of 479 examinees. SLC registered a 75% passing mark for first takers and a 33.33% Overall School Passing against the 37.37% National Passing.
The members of the Board of Geodetic Engineering who gave the licensure examination are Engr. Pedro L. Noble, Officer-In-Charge and Engr. Restituto U. Bautista, Member.
