SLC is Wireless Zone
Written by Thomas R. de Austria Jr.

SLC upgrades its Internet services by acquiring new DSL Internet Lines. Due to the limited bandwidth of the existing connection that serves the Internet Section, computer laboratories, and some of the offices at the Administration building, the SLC Administration obtained additional three (3) ADSL broadband internet connections.

The existing internet DSL connection will solely be used at the Internet section and computer laboratories while the additional DSL lines will: (1) supply the connection to internet users in different offices, (2) wireless internet access; and (3) be used in web applications at the MIS Office.

With wireless connection, students and employees can access and browse the internet through their wireless devices within the frequency range inside the campus.

To commence formally the opening of the Saint Louis University (SLU) Nursing Extension Classes in Saint Louis College (SLC), a solemn blessing and inauguration rite was held last May 20, 2008 at the first floor east lobby of the new nursing building, the Fr. Theophile Verbist Building, named after the founder of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM).

Rev. Fr. Romeo Nimez, CICM, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, officiated the celebration. Dr. Antonia N. Dag-o, SLC Vice President for Administration and Dr. Mary Grace Lacanaria, Dean of SLU - College of Nursing, led the participants in the Liturgy of the Word and Prayers of the Faithful.

After the readings, the Blessing and Wreath Laying at the Fr. Theophile's statue, the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, and the Blessing proper followed. Rev. Fr. Romeo Nimez, CICM blessed the 1st floor while Rev. Fr. Jessie Hechanova, CICM, SLU President and Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, blessed the 2nd and 3rd floors, respectively,

Before the blessing proper, the rhythmic sound of teh gong, rainmaker and chime reverberated with the soft hum of the wind creating a prayerful atmosphere. Consecrated salt and water solution, elements symbolizing purification and transformation, was used to bless the new building.
