The 234th Department of Air Science and Tactics, headed by Dean Marife E. Rimando as NSTP Director and Lt. Col. Maria Lucrecia R. Mir as ROTC Commandant, won two major awards during the 63rd Foundation Anniversary of the Philippine Air Force.

In the Special Flag Raising Ceremony held at the Villamor Air Base on 01 July 2010, Lt. Gen. Oscar H. Rabena, PAF Commanding General, awarded the PAF ROTC Department of the Year plaque of commendation to Lt. Col. Mir.

The SLC ROTC unit edged out the other ROTC institutions for its active involvement in community outreach projects, implementation of the ROTC programs of instruction, and judicious utilization of funds.

In the same occasion, C/Col Neil Brian S. Casem 1CL, Commander of the ROTC Cops of Cadets, was adjudged the PAF Cadet of the Year. He bested more than 3,000 male cadets in a selection process that took into account academic performance, leadership, and active participation in reservist duties.

Saint Louis College has traditionally received national recognition in ROTC cadetship training. As the biggest PAF ROTC institution in Luzon, it garnered the Unit Award five times since 2004. Also since 2003, six cadet officers have been recognized as Cadet and Cadette of the Year.
