The Commission on Higher Education through En Banc Resolution 188-2010 dated July 16, 2010, awarded Saint Louis College the distinction of being a Center of Excellence (COE) for Teacher Education in recognition of the excellent performance of the programs under SLC College of Teacher Education in the areas of instruction, research and publication, extension and linkages, institutional qualifications and in producing quality pre-service teacher education that meet the needs of progressive teachers for basic education schools.

The identification, support, and development of Centers of Excellence (COEs) and Centers of Development (CODs) is a CHED project for the development of world-class scholarship, nation-building, and national development.

As a COE, SLC is committed to be a role model in Teacher Education programs by: sustaining and enhancing its institutional research capabilities and upgrading its professional or research graduate programs; by providing assistance to agencies and other institutions in the region; by undertaking projects geared towards quality Teacher Education programs; by accelerating the development of Teacher Education programs through strategic development agenda and projects; by developing quality instructional programs through faculty development and upgrading of facilities and library holdings; by undertaking basic and applied research activities on emerging trends and developments in the field of Teacher Education; and by undertaking extension and linkages through consortia and collaborations with academe and other sectors.
