Beloved Louisians,

Wayne Dyer once said “There are two kinds of people in this world: ducks and eagles”. Ducks quack a lot and make all kinds of noise. Eagles go about their business and soar above the crowd. You can tell a lot about an organization when you have a customer problem. That’s usually when ducks and eagles appear.

I want to start this sharing with ducks and eagles because I am constantly amazed by the working dynamics of this institution. We have started the school year with a positive note. Our enrolment is at an all time high, our strategic plan was revisited and refocused, our application for a COE/COD looks very hopeful, a few of our facilities upgraded, we have new and dynamic teachers, and most of all we have a an indescribable soaring spirit. The spirit of an eagle is indeed alive in our institution. I pray that the Eagles among us continue to flourish, focus and always be a source of inspiration in this institution.

My friends, ones again we are faced with a challenging school year. Challenging, because we have upped the ante of our ambitions. We have laid our goals for this school year. In it we will find the continuation of our efforts of the past three years. We have also added a few more this year. The goals we have set this year is attainable only when we bear in mind a few things:

… Our quest for excellence is a continuous process; we only compete with ourselves and with no one else. We benchmark from our own performances. If we find the past year wanting, this is year will be a time for us to make it better. We aim for perfection – after all the gospel imperative is: Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.

… Our goals can be achieved in a concerted effort, not in individual, isolated effort. We need the cooperation and goodwill of everybody. We are everyone’s costumer. Therefore it is everyone’s duty to satisfy every costumer’s need and demand. If we do this in concert, we will indeed produce a wonderful music as an orchestra. This is the reason why I requested for the postponement of our CBA till the second semester, for us to focus on the difficult tasks we have this 1st semester.

… Ang Krus ay gagaan lamang kung samasama nating pasanin ito. This was the message of Noynoy Aquino in his inaugural address to the Filipino People. I wish we take this to heart. This semester we will be asked to sacrifice more of our time to finish requirements for the various accreditations we will go through. We have experienced that already when we applied for COE/COD for our teacher education. More will be asked of us. I hope that we will be more than willing to give more when that time comes.

The road we have paved so far looks beautiful and straight. The road that needs to be paved before us looks daunting and hard. Let us not be cowered in fear. Let us blaze through with courage and conviction. Knowing that end the end of our journey – we have provided the Ilocandias with an institution that is truly the “Beacon of Wisdom in the North”.
